It is a medium-sized deciduous tree that can reach a height of 5–15 metres. It sheds leaves with a round or umbrella-shaped canopy, spreading widely with feathery leaves. It blossoms from February to April.

It typically stands at a height of 8–20 metres and is characterised by a light grey to brown bark that is covered in short, silky Hairs. The tree produces blossoms from January to March.
